Why ideology should be left at the school gate

In General12th December 2019Leave a comment msharron

Education always features prominently in election campaigns and rightly so. My interest, however, goes far beyond my role as a Conservative Parliamentary Candidate. As the father of three small children, it is deeply personal. I want to be sure that, when they each start school, they will able to attend well-funded local schools, which meet the highest standards of teaching and facilities. …

We are in for one hell of an election

In General8th December 2019Leave a comment msharron

WHEN American president Donald Trump called Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage’s radio show on Thursday and railed against Labour chief Jeremy Corbyn, anyone could be forgiven for thinking we are now in some crazy parallel universe. An appetite for fair tips

In Opinion8th December 2019Leave a comment msharron

Thoughts of a Professional Beekeeper & Full-Time Environmentalist

In Opinion23rd November 2019Leave a comment msharron

As a professional beekeeper – a full-time environmentalist as it were – I am one of the millions of individuals who have chosen voluntarily to take responsibility for tackling the environmental problems that we face. I have planted trees, formed gardening groups with fellow residents, insulated my home; and cut down on plastic use. I regularly buy local; I religiously recycle; I rarely fly, and I usually walk. Few Green Party supporters can claim such credentials. I am also one …

The Importance of Civility in Politics

In Opinion17th November 2019Leave a comment msharron

From local candidates to today’s world leaders, it would appear that the civility once taken for granted in politics is fading. In the past year alone, there have been countless incidents involving harassment and even assault of elected officials in the UK, and the constant background hum of petty bickering and name-calling.  …
